Terms of Service

Welcome to Brevlex. By accessing or using our website at brevlex.com and our vocabulary learning services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service, whether through a registered account or as a guest.

To access certain features of the Service, you may create an account. When you do, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain the security of your password and account
• Promptly update your account information if it changes
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

You may also use parts of the Service as a guest without creating an account. Guest access is subject to usage limits and does not include features such as flashcard creation, progress tracking, or achievements.

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement. Students aged 13 and older (typically grades 7–12) may use the Service only through a class set up by their teacher. Children under 13 may not use the Service.

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose: learning and teaching English vocabulary. You may not:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without our written permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without authorization

Brevlex uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized learning content, including example sentences, mnemonic devices, word associations, translations, and AI-generated Learning Packs. You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated content is provided as a learning aid and may contain inaccuracies, awkward phrasing, or errors
• AI-generated content should not be relied upon as a sole authoritative source for word definitions, grammar, or usage
• The quality and accuracy of AI-generated content may vary and we continuously work to improve it
• We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be free from bias or culturally appropriate in all contexts

We appreciate your patience as we refine these features. If you encounter content that seems incorrect or inappropriate, we encourage you to let us know at support@brevlex.com.

The Service, including its design, code, visual assets, word database, and AI-generated content, is owned by Brevlex and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

Dictionary definitions taken or adapted from Open English WordNet (CC BY 4.0) and Wiktionary (CC BY-SA 4.0) remain under those licences, and you may reuse them on their terms; the restrictions above do not apply to them.

Your personal study data (such as flashcards, progress, and settings) belongs to you. We claim no ownership over the information you provide to personalize your learning experience.

Brevlex is currently free to use. It includes the core vocabulary learning features, for one learning goal at a time. Some usage caps that protect the service (for example, daily caps on AI requests) apply.

We may introduce paid plans in the future that unlock additional features, such as studying more than one learning goal at once. If and when we do, we will update these Terms with the plan details — including price, billing frequency, renewal, and cancellation — and show them clearly before you choose to pay. You will never be charged without explicitly selecting a paid plan and confirming the purchase.

We may also change the features included in the free tier and will aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes.

For educators, the first class on the Free classroom plan stays free, and we will give at least 30 days' written notice before any paid educator plan launches.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue before taking action, unless the violation is severe or poses a risk to other users or our systems.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Brevlex and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times. Brevlex is an independently developed product, and while we take care to build a reliable service, occasional hiccups are part of the journey.

Brevlex is a vocabulary learning tool. It is not a substitute for professional language instruction, test preparation courses, or educational services. Your results will depend on your individual effort and consistency.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Brevlex operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will first be raised with us at support@brevlex.com; if it is not resolved, it will be decided by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email.

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

If you have questions, concerns, or feedback about these Terms, please reach out to us at support@brevlex.com. We are happy to help.
