What Brevlex is
Brevlex is a website for learning English words — for an exam, for work, or for reading in English day to day. You pick the topics you care about, meet a new word in a sentence about one of them, and fill in the missing word. With a free account, words you have studied come back for review later, on a schedule drawn from spaced repetition research.

Who makes it
Brevlex is made independently. Questions, bug reports and anything else go to support@brevlex.com — the same address behind the Contact link in the site footer.
Where the words come from
Brevlex writes the example sentence for a word. When it can't make a new one, it shows one prepared in advance. The English definitions come mainly from open dictionaries, such as Open English WordNet and Wiktionary. We edited some of them.
Definitions in part from Open English WordNet 2024, licensed CC BY 4.0, and from Wiktionary (directly or via dictionaryapi.dev), licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Some entries have been modified.

Brevlex runs no ads and does not sell your data. The privacy policy lists what is stored, why it is stored, and how to delete it.
